Liive is the pop project of Live Foyn Friis, an acclaimed Norwegian composer/singer-songwriter. Educated at the Conservatory of Music in Tromsø, Kungliga Musikhögskolan in Stockholm and Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium in Århus, Friis exploded onto the international stage with her distinct personal strain of indie-jazz. While based in Denmark, her debut release, 2011’s Joy Visible, was nominated for Best Danish Jazz Album at the Danish Music Awards. She later won awards for Young Jazz Composer of the Year and Denmark’s New Jazz Star. Friis has toured Europe, USA, Africa and South America and has been selected for Denmark’s musical export shipment to Germany. As an emerging singer, she performed with artists including Brian Blade, John Scofield’s Überjam, Thomas Morgan and Bobby McFerrin. In 2017, Friis made her debut as Liive, a project she continues in collaboration with Martin Vinje on the 2025 album RYKTE.
