The story behind the sound
Cameroonian-born hip hop artist Hype’s well-travelled upbringing laid the foundations for the sounds and cultures that influence his style. He relocated to the US in 2010, and he started recording his own tracks as a teenager, releasing his first mixtape in 2018. Hype has performed at SXSW and has worked with underground hard hitters Che Noir and producer Soul Chemist. His debut album, under the imprint Audio Freebase, was released in April 2022 and he’s working on the follow up.
