Raised in the quiet of Suffolk, Freya Roy is an artist, multi-instrumentalist and producer. From broken beat and electrifying nu-jazz, to warming street-soul, her signature sound has been crafted throughout her years spent in Norwich, Leeds, Birmingham and South London, collaborating with session musicians and independent artists across the board. Praised by Gilles Peterson, who claimed – “Street-soul is back” – her debut EP, For Who I Have Become, gained traction from the likes of Jamz Supernova, British Vogue, Jamie Cullum and Don Letts. She has warmed up the stage for the likes of Jasmine Myra, Alabaster De Plume, and Noya Rao, whilst selling out her own headline show at Dalston’s Servant Jazz Quarters. Multi-faceted in her craft, Freya has been adding some valuable credit to her name, recently contributing additional production to a legendary collaboration between Sean Kuti, Talib Kweli and Vector, on tracks ‘Higher Consciousness’ and ‘African Dreams – II’. She has also collaborated with the likes of Edbl, Gabriel Gifford (Psychotic Reaction), Nia Wyn, Kindelan, and Mared, from collaborative production through to live session engineering and mixing. Known for her frequent collaborations with Maya Law, the two released their first full-length collaborative project in 2026.
Freya recently contributed additional production to a legendary collaboration between Sean Kuti, Talib Kweli and Vector.
